The average viewer rating for the show is 21.7%, breaking the previous record of 20.5% set by “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.” The story follows a South Korean heiress and businesswoman whose paragliding mishap crashes her into the rugged terrain of North Korea’s side of the DMZ, leading her to meet a North Korean military officer. This entertaining adventure captivates all who watch with gorgeous scenes, fun characters and, plenty of drama.

“Crash Landing on You” has been praised for its depiction of life in North Korea. Unlike the common negative portrayals of North Korea, in this show, North Korean village life is shown as vibrant with close-knit communities. Although the emphasis is on positive village life, the show does not shy away from some of the harsher realities of living in North Korea. To create such vivid detail, both positive and negative, the show contracted a North Korean defector as an advisor. Crash Landing on You is a well-researched, heart-wrenching drama that has enraptured many viewers.
