Do you enjoy writing? Photography and videos are not a stranger to you? We are interested in exciting stories and personal encounters with people like you and me. Or would you like to show us the diversity of Switzerland or South Korea with a fresh perspective?

In connection with the anniversary “60 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Switzerland and the Republic of Korea”, Schauplatz Magazine is launching a visual storytelling competition. The winner from Switzerland gets invited to South Korea and the winner from South Korea to Switzerland.

Information

Culture Clash, East meets West, The Original – what is a typical Swiss or a real Korean? Is there such a thing? Take us into your world and tell us about real life. Unique events, experiences, and moments: We want to breathe life into these and share them through digital media. The contributions of all winners get published in the online Schauplatz-Magazine.

Call for Entries

Youth and young adults between the ages of 17 and 35 who live in Switzerland or Korea are eligible to participate. The competition is open to digital storytellers, photojournalists, producers, and coordinators of contributions who are in training or are not professionals. The decision of Schauplatz-Magazine in all matters relating to the contest is final. No correspondence will be entered into. Cash payment of the prizes is not possible. The winners will be informed by e-mail, and legal recourse is excluded.

Entry Requirements

Your digital story – such as “Yeon Deung Hoe” consists of text, visuals, and a short video. In order to participate in the competition, the following conditions must be met:
– Language: German, Korean, or English
– Text format: Word document
– Text structure: title, subtitle, and body text
– Text length: 8’000 characters (incl. spaces)
– Formatting: Times New Roman, font size 12
– Number of photos: 1 to 3 photos (min. 1 photo in landscape format)
– Photo format: JPG, max. 4 MB per image
– Video: max. 3 minutes
– Format video: as link for download

Deadline

Text, photos, and a short video together with a separate short biography (max. 300 characters incl. spaces) should be sent to: contest@schauplatz-magazine.com indicating first name/last name and phone number. The size of the e-mail must not exceed 15 MB. The deadline for submission is Friday, the 31.MAR.2023.

Jury

A jury of experts from literature, photography, and video art will select the 20 best entries. The jury consists of Dominik Baur (photography, Switzerland), Anna Anderegg (video art, Switzerland), Soyoon Lee (literature, Korea), Prof. Dongkeun Lee (photography, Korea), Prof. Eun-Young Kim (video art, Korea) and Daniel Thomas Faller (Schauplatz Magazine, Korea and Switzerland).

Winners

The winners will be chosen by the jury until 21.APR.2023. Subsequently, all winners will be informed personally. From 21.APR. 2023, the winners will also be announced online in the Schauplatz Magazine.
